ALTER: Name a Horror character you relate to on a spiritual level? Who is your Horror spirit animal?
SB: Jack Nicholson in The Shining maybe – all work and no play etc.

A: You’ve gotta go through some bad ideas to get to the good ones. Tell us one of your bad ideas. How do you get past the bad ones to find your spark?
SB: Touchy subject. There was one about a girl you cuts off a guy’s penis as revenge but it turns into a rampaging severed penis monster which torments the town. The good ideas are the ones that stay with you and give you butterflies, and pester you until you write them.

A: Do you consider yourself part of a horror community?
SB: Probably not. I steal from horror rather than being part of a community or genre

A: When you’re building the world of your film, where do you look for inspiration?
SB: Other films / filmmakers from lots of different genres, the stealing thing. But then hopefully the real world, things that make me angry or sad or excited. However crazy the world of the film you want to have real people in them.

A: What would you do if you woke up inside of your film?
SB: Check my pulse

A: Who would be on your ultimate horror villain squad?
SB: Can I say my ex? She was terrifying.

A: Lightning round: Freddy or Jason? Stephen King or H.P. Lovecraft? Practical or CGI? Post Apocalypse or Pre Apocalypse?
SB: Freddy / Stephen King / Practical / Pre Apocalypse

A: And finally, Ghostface would like to know ‘What’s your favourite scary movie?’
SB: Texas Chainsaw Massacre will always scare the sh*t out of me. Evil Dead 2 is very special to me. Invasion of the Body Snatchers ditto. Raw as a recent one that blew me away. But Psycho is the all time greatest.
