Q&A with Doyeon Noh, Director of “Human Form”
Name a Horror character you relate to on a spiritual level? Who is your Horror spirit animal?
Jack Torrance from The Shining.
You’ve gotta go through some bad ideas to get to the good ones. Tell us one of your bad ideas. How do you get past the bad ones to find your spark?
In the beginning, this movie Human Form was going to be a very realistic fake documentary style film where two loner highschool girls do plastic surgery to one another, then fail horribly. That could have been nice too, but when I heard my producer joke about how the world could become when everyone wears the same face, I changed the whole concept. That became the movie.
Do you consider yourself part of a horror community?
When you’re building the world of your film, where do you look for inspiration?
Books and movies. Day dreaming and Nnightmares.
What would you do if you woke up inside of your film?
I would stay in my apartment all day and never go out, which I’m already doing now anyway.
Who would be on your ultimate horror villain squad?
I’d like to see Chucky and Annabelle team up in the ‘Dark’ Toy Story movie.
Lightning round: Freddy or Jason? Stephen King or H.P. Lovecraft? Practical or CGI? Post Apocalypse or Pre Apocalypse?
Jason. Stephen King. Practical. Post Apocalypse.
How do you go about creating the props and sets for your film? How do you create objects that are relatable but unfamiliar?
I looked up weird paintings, documentaries and lots of online images. Then I worked with concepts artsts and come up with the right set and face design.
And finally, Ghostface would like to know ‘What’s your favourite scary movie?’
