Q&A with Bryan M Ferguson Director of “Satanic Panic ’87” and “Insecticide”
Name a Horror character you relate to on a spiritual/personal level?
You’ve gotta go through some bad ideas to get to the good ones. Tell us one of your bad ideas. How do you get past the bad ones to find your spark?
I think there’s always something good in a bad idea. If I have a bad idea, I try to figure out how to shape it into something that sounds like it could effectively be bad but transcends expectations.
Do you consider yourself part of a horror community?
Been a member of the horror community since the moment I chewed through my umbilical chord.
When you’re building the world of your film, where do you look for inspiration?
Everywhere. Everything inspires ideas, even if it’s something nasty written on the wall of a public toilet.
What would you do if you woke up inside of your film?
I’d feel at home – if it were a stranger to that world they’d have my condolences.
Who would be on your ultimate horror villain squad?
Honestly I just want to be one of the demonic bikers from Mandy.
Lightning round: Freddy or Jason? Stephen King or H.P. Lovecraft? Practical or CGI? Post Apocalypse or Pre Apocalypse?
Freddy. Lovecraft. Practical. Pre-Apocalypse.
What scares you, and does it inspire your storytelling?
Social situations. Not really.
And finally, Ghostface would like to know ‘What’s your favourite scary movie?’
Evil Dead II
