Q&A with Leaf Lieber, Director of “Night Crawl”
Name a Horror character you relate to on a spiritual/personal level?
Ernest P. Worrell
You’ve gotta go through some bad ideas to get to the good ones. Tell us one of your bad ideas. How do you get past the bad ones to find your spark?
You just keep making things. Don’t think about whether it’s a good or bad idea.
Do you consider yourself part of a horror community?
I guess so. It’s a community filled with introverts. It can be magical when you get fans or horror actually together.
When you’re building the world of your film, where do you look for inspiration?
Watch movies, look at art, listen to music.
What would you do if you woke up inside of your film?
I guess I would try to crawl out of there.
Who would be on your ultimate horror villain squad?
Rawhead Rex, Bud The CHUD, Octoman
Lightning round: Freddy or Jason? Stephen King or H.P. Lovecraft? Practical or CGI? Post Apocalypse or Pre Apocalypse?
Fred. King. Practical. Post.
How do you go about creating the props and sets for your film? How do you create objects that are relatable but unfamiliar?
We build everything. It’s important to me that every element is real and touched by a human.
What scares you, and does it inspire your storytelling?
The discovery of a creature. All my ideas seem to reflect thattheme.
And finally, Ghostface would like to know ‘What’s your favourite scary movie?’
