Q&A with Miguel Ángel Durán, Director of “The Melody of Evil”
Name a Horror character you relate to on a spiritual/personal level?
Do you consider yourself part of a horror community?
When you’re building the world of your film, where do you look for inspiration?
Films and paintings, in the case of The melody of evil from the Spanish paintor F. Goya and his famous painting Saturno devorando a su hijo
What would you do if you woke up inside of your film?
Try to wake up as soon as possible before it goes night time.
Who would be on your ultimate horror villain squad?
Probably Hannibal Lecter, Raoul Silva (Javier Bardem character in James Bon film) just to mention a few.
Lightning round: Freddy or Jason? Stephen King or H.P. Lovecraft? Practical or CGI? Post Apocalypse or Pre Apocalypse?
Freddy, Stephen King, practical, post apocalypse.
What scares you, and does it inspire your storytelling?
Extrange characters in familiar and daylight light situations, like the dancing kid in “Insidious”, or some creepy scenes from “Hereditary”. That kind of realism scares me the most.
And finally, Ghostface would like to know ‘What’s your favourite scary movie?’
